July 9th 2019: Change of WiFi (eduroam) configurations

On July 9th, 2019, wireless internet access via eduroam will be upgraded to new security certificates. In order to continue having access to eduroam and the university network on campus, the TIK provides the following information and handouts.

Internet access: WiFi (eduroam) major changes on July 9th, 2019

What is happening and when?

Due to an upgrade to new security certificates, your current eduroam configuration must be re-installed on all devices.

As of now, it is possible to update your eduroam configuration. We recommend to re-install eduroam promptly.

Without updating to the new configuration your access to the eduroam network will be denied from July 9th, 2019.

Who is affected by the change?

The change affects every device of all students and employees who are using the eduroam network with the University of Stuttgart as their home organization.

What do you have to do now:

You have to take the following steps in order to continue having access to eduroam and the university network on campus:

  • if necessary, delete eduroam profiles previously installed

  • re-install eduroam on your computer and mobile devices

  • Administration employees: Computers provisioned by the ZVD receive the update automatically. Please connect your computer to the central administration network (ZV-LAN). You will receive further information and support from the ZVD via e-mail.

In the paragraphs below you can find tips on how to delete an old eduroam configuration, instructions on how to set up eduroam on your device as well as handouts for all common operating systems.

Instructions on setting up eduroam on your device

To safely set up eduroam on your device we recommend using the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (eduroam CAT) since a faulty manual installation can cause serious security problems.

Please note: You will need an internet connection to install eduroam, e.g. via LAN at work, at home, using mobile data or a mobile hotspot.
